Stephen Makes Cakes!

Stephen entered a cake into the Big E Cake Decorating Contest last week and won a blue ribbon!

He did a great job - maybe next year I won't be so busy and will be able to enter a cake as well. :)

2008 Olympics

Riley celebrated her birthday with an Olympic themes party, so I had to wrack my brain to come up with something impressive! Not a whole lot of Olympic cakes out there to inspire me! The idea for the sugar flames came last minute as I knew I did not have enough time to make them from sugarpaste and rice krispie treats were just not inspiring me. Total DUH moment when I realized that the obvious answer was sugar!

I wish I had taken a picture of the inside of the cake as it was all rainbow colors - I'm sure the girls were surprised when they cut into the cake!

I told you he was cool.

And for the record, yes, he is "smoking" a piece of cheese.

Disturbing and hilarious all at the same time.

Again, I apologize in advance to my cousins with adorable, sweet little babies. I really don't mean to scare you.

Really.

So everyone once in awhile Stephen leaves notes for people. I have found a few around the house, like the one that told me he was up at 4:57 am.

This is the latest one:
I just found it this morning and he is not awake yet - can't WAIT to hear the explanation on THIS one!

At least his spelling and handwriting are coming along nicely....

To all my cousins with boys...

They are gonna think Stephen is SO COOL when they get bigger, and wanna be just like him! Sorry 'bout that.

ChartreuseThumb?

Ok, so maybe I don't have a GREEN thumb, maybe it's only chartreuse. Believe it or not we are getting a few tomatoes on the deck, a poor little pepper and some beans.

Not quite a Victory Garden, but we've had a lot going on over here. Heck if it weren't for Mom who knows if those plants would have made it off the windowsill!

Hello Home & Garden!

LOVE IT!!!

Thank you Home Depot - 12 months no payments ;-)

The Cirus is in Town

Cole Brothers Circus - the country's largest traveling circus under the big top is in town.

But who needs that when we have an in-house Cat-crobat? Or is that Acro-cat?

He works without a net. You don't think he's stupid enough to jump do you?

Comments and Smurfs

If a blogger blogs on Blogger and no one comments...
Does it really make a blog?

Of course all I can think of now is "Smurfette really smurfed that good, didn't she Papa Smurf?"

BTW Happy Smurfday! They turn 50 this year how isa that possible?

My Answer to the $4.00 Latte

Freeze regular coffee in cupcake tins. Have wonderful husband make you a doubleshot of espresso. Place 3 coffee "cupcakes" in a large glass. Add espresso, half and half, maybe even a little shot of a flavored creamer or caramel. Top off with fresh whipped cream - it helps to have a nifty dispenser like this one - just add fresh whipping cream a little sugar and maybe the flavoring of your choice (cheesecake this time) and find the perfect spot to enjoy. Like a newly built wall in your yard (more on that later).

Stuff in the Yard

We are lucky enough to have not just one, but TWO of the elusive Domestic New England Flamingo living nearby. Shhhhh! Don't tell too many people or the yard will be overtaken by Birders trying to get a look at this rare bird for their life list.

Naughty Monkey

This is what Tyler picked out to give his teacher at the end of the school year. Seriously. All by himself. Can you even stand it?

The best part is when she opened them and said that she had them in her hands and had almost bought them and her friend talked her out of it saying they were to impulsive and frivolous!

They really are very cool shoes - you can check out Naughty Monkey footwear here: http://www.naughty-monkey.com/

It was a great school year and I am soooo looking forward to not having to wake the boys on Monday and chase the bus all over town. I told them if I heard either of them up and out of bed before 7:00 on Monday it wouldn't be pretty. Of course you and I both know they will be up bright and early - my guess is 6:10. Maybe they will make me breakfast.

My cousin's shower

Jennifer's wedding shower was this weekend and it was lovely! Lunch was amazing - a super salad brunch, with chicken, grilled shrimp, grilled peppers, portabellos, and all sorts of fixins'! So nicely done, I'm thinking my next party is going to be a salad bar like that - I really enjoyed it and had to keep from going back up a third time...

Here is her cake, it was a yummy chocolate with caramel meringue buttercream filling and french vanilla with strawberry jam meringue buttercream filling with fresh strawberries.

If I get anymore pictures from anyone I will post them - like a dope I forgot my camera, so did Aunt Val, so we are working on photos to get to Rosemary.

Teacher's Appreciation Lunch last week

Can you even stand how cute he is?

Quick picture of latest crzay cake...

Will give full update and picture collage a bit later. But here is a shot of a bar mitzvah cake for 200 people. Glove, cleat, balls and bat are made from rice krispie treats. Hat is cake, too.

Mother's Day Poem from Tyler

Working with Papa

Tyler helped Papa in the garage today putting up walls....
While Stephen used whatever he could find to build a rocket ship in the yard.

Busy week!

Had a few cakes to do last week, pretty busy week. Plus I will be adding Mother's Day, Tyler working with Dad while Stephen builds a rocket ship, the cat, etc... here's a few to get Aunt Val off my back!

A few graduation cakes:

For this one, the girl graduating is leaving for an internship at Disney's Animal Kingdom.
More to come.....
